Refilling helps the environment by diverting cartridges away from landfill

Most people are surprized to learn that over 30 million inkjet cartridges are dumped in landfills in Canada each year. This represents in excess of 5000 tons of landfill plastic which takes more than 1,000 years to break down. Similarly, in the US, it is estimated that roughly 350 million ink cartridges are disposed of in landfills annually. Almost 3 ounces of oil is required for the manufacture of each ink cartridge, including the additional fossil energy needed for manufacturing, packaging and distribution. This creates a large greenhouse gas emission footprint for each cartridge. There is no doubt that a very high “Environmental Cost” is associated with inkjet cartridge manufacture and disposal. Refiling both reduces the number of cartridges disposed of in landfills anually and the number of cartridges required for manufacture. As a result, greenhouse gas emissions and adverse landfill impacts are reduced. Refilling results in a “win” for everyone by….Saving You Money; and Saving the Environment.
